Giving Back to our Community

The Birchwood Lions Club is involved in several projects dedicated to providing service to our community. All funds from the Bluegill festival and Fish Fry are given back to the Birchwood Community. Listed below are some of the recent projects we have done and some of the groups and organizations we have supported this year.

  • Bluegill Festival-provide a family friendly event for people to relax and enjoy. This event raises money to fund many of our service projects throughout the year.
  • Eye Glass Collection-Eye Glass collection boxes are located throughout the community. If you would like to donate your used eye glasses, please drop them off at any time.
  • Hearing Loss and Diabetes Care- Around the world we network to control and prevent diabetes and diabetic retinopathy, one of the leading causes of vision loss in adults of industrialized countries. Lions serve through scholarships, mentoring, and youth camps
  • Wisconsin Lions Camp-give money to help pay expenses.
  • Birchwood Area Food Pantry-donate to the Birchwood Area Food Pantry twice yearly.
  • Birchwood School Weekend Backpacks Program-provide financial support for 2 students to receive weekend meals during each week of the school year.
  • Birchwood Cemetary-give a yearly donation
  • Birchwood School District Student Scholarships-provide $1,100 in scholarships to Birchwood High School Students every year.
  • Lions Mints-distributed to local businesses to raise money to support Lions Club projects. For information contact Scott Hayes (715)790-2800

We Serve

The many years of hard work by Lions Club members have helped finance many improvements for the Birchwood Community. Over the years, the club generously gave money for numerous projects including,

  • a new ambulance
  • the purchase of a new truck for the fire department
  • a sizeable donation to the school for a new playground
  • playground equipment at Doolittle Park
  • Tree purchase and planting
  • $6000 for sidewalk repairs at the Birchwood School (2010)
  • $10,000 to enhance Main Street with a sound system (2010)
  • $500 donation to the softball field for new fencing (2010)
  • $500 donation to the Palm Family (2010)
  • $200 donation to the Birchwood Little League (2010)
  • $200 donation to the Birchwood Youth Football team (2010)
  • $500 donation to Neighbor 2 Neighbor (a local thrift shop) to get started (2010)
  • $300 to Lions Club International (2010)
