Become a Lions Club Member
Lions are groups of service-minded men and women who are interested in doing volunteer work to improve their communities. To become a Lion is to become an active volunteer, a member of a respected international organization, a leader in your community and a friend to people in need.
There are many reasons to become a member of the Birchwood Lions Club.
As a Lion, you'll:
- Help our community and gain valuable skills
- Make an impact on people's lives – locally and internationally
- Learn to be a leader – and lead a respected organization
- Network with business people in your community and around the world
- Energize your life and have fun
You'll grow personally and professionally. And you'll know that the community volunteer work you perform is worthwhile and appreciated.

Honoring our Members
The Melvin Jones Award is the top honor and the top award for Lions Club and Birchwood is indeed fortunate to have six members win this award over the years. The award winners are Henry Orsund, Jim Smith, Robert Ulbrich, Sandra Rhinehart, Tom Knapmiller, and Fred Vreeland. Fred Vreeland was one of the original charter members and was able to secure a $20,000 grand from Lions International to help purchase a new ambulance and that was the first such grant issued to anyone in the State of Wisconsin!
