Giving Back to our Community

Lions are best known for fighting blindness and giving the gift of site. In 1925The Birchwood Lions Club is involved in several projects dedicated to providing service to our community. Listed below are some of the projects we have done and some of the groups and organizatio, Helen Keller challenged Lions to become 'Knights of th eblind in the crusade against darkness." We accepted and today sight programs remain one of our defining causes. We collect and recycle old glasses, conduct vision screenings, and raise awareness of eye disease. There is actually a Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin located in Madison. They eye banks mission is to recover process and distribute eye tissue for transplant. Different Lions members in Wisconsin volunteer to transport eye tissue when needed, day or night, 365 days a year. In 2010, LEBW had 640 donors resulting in 1034 transplanted tissues.
