Birchwood Lions Club
The Birchwood Lions Club was organized on February 11, 1961. The Birchwood Lions Club is a part of Wisconsin District 27-E1, one of ten districts that cover off of the State of Wisconsin, which is comprised of 51 Lions Clubs, 6 Lioness Clubs, and 6 Leo Clubs with a combined membership of approximately 2,000. The club started with 25 members and Leonard Carlson was the Chartered President. Our First fundraiser was a pancake breakfast raising over $100.00. In 1963, 2 original Lions presented a plan to the club for holding an annual celebration in Birchwood to honor the abundant bluegills in this area. At that time, the Bluegill festival was born. The plan was unanimously endorsed and the first Bluegill Festival was held on July 4, 1963.

We Serve
Our motto is "We Serve." The Lions have a strict rule state that ALL of the money a club makes has to be put back into the community they serve. So all of the money made from the Bluegill Festival and annual fish fry is given back to Birchwood. The members of our club enjoy monthly meetings, giving back to our community, and camaraderie created by working together to help others notas fortunate as ourselves. We think we are doing a pretty good job to follow that motto, but we would like to participate in more service projects for our community. We need to be come known as an organization that does more in the community than just plans the Bluegill Festival. We can't do this without more members. Please Join us! Take pride in your community and give some time. We meet on the 1st Thursday of each month at 6PM at the Village Hall.
